EHS Risk & Compliance Manager
Full-Time, Permanent



Location: Concord – In Office (some travel involved in Canada)
Schedule:
Typical working hours are either:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: up to $95,000 base salary + 20% annual bonus

Summary
The EHS Risk & Compliance Manager is a hands-on health and safety professional responsible for supporting safe operations across Canadian distribution centres. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role focuses on warehouse and transport safety, hazard identification, and ensuring the organisation meets all federal, provincial, and territorial occupational health and safety obligations.

The position maintains and continually improves an integrated risk management system that demonstrates due diligence and supports consistent, compliant operations. The role requires strong people leadership to build trust, engagement, and accountability, as well as change leadership capability to embed sustainable risk and compliance improvements across the organisation.

Primary Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Interpret applicable federal, provincial, and territorial OHS legislation and translate legislative obligations into practical, operational controls.
  • Maintain and support the organization’s integrated hazard identification and risk management systems.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements across Canadian jurisdictions and support compliance assurance activities.
  • Provide guidance to operational leaders to support due diligence obligations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with distribution centre managers, warehouse teams, sales representatives, transport providers, and administrative personnel to support safe operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and communicate safety updates, changes, and expectations effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support Health and Safety Committees and worker consultation activities as required.

 

Safety and Risk Management

  • Embed risk controls into operational planning, business activities, and change management processes.
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments for warehouse and transport operations, including but not limited to:
    • Manual handling and ergonomics
    • Mobile plant and forklift operations
    • Traffic management and loading/unloading activities
    • Contractor and transport interface risks
  • Review, validate, and maintain safe work procedures (SWPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse and transport activities.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities relating to new equipment, facility layout changes, or process updates to ensure risks are identified and controlled prior to implementation.

 

Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Lead or support the investigation of safety incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
  • Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and documented in accordance with internal requirements and legislative obligations.
  • Identify root causes and systemic issues and support the development and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor incident trends and provide insights to support continuous improvement.

 

Training, Engagement, and Compliance

  • Deliver practical, frontline safety training to warehouse, transport, and operational teams.
  • Conduct driver assessments and transportation safety reviews to verify competency and compliance.
  • Support induction, refresher, and role-based training programs aligned with operational risk profiles.
  • Promote a consistent culture of safety, compliance, and accountability across multiple sites.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions include office warehouse, and transport environments and customer sites with occasional interprovincial travel between our multiple locations.
  • This is a hands-on role that requires regular presence in warehouse and transport operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Formal EHS qualification (e.g., CRSP or equivalent in Occupational/Environmental Health & Safety)
  • Train-the-Trainer certification (highly desirable)
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in warehousing, logistics, and transport safety environments.
  • Proven experience in Incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation and regulatory requirements, with a focus on British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Québec.
  • Experience delivering practical safety training and conducting operational assessments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and work independently across multiple sites
  • Solutions focused with strong follow through and attention to detail.
