English & Japanese Administrator/Interpreter

Full-time, Permanent


Location: 
Dayton, Ohio – 100% On-site (able to work 56 hours from home throughout the year)

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (40/hrs. week)

Salary: Up to $33/per hour

Relocation Compensation: Up to $10,000 relocation package

Responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Service Operations Manager

FUNCTIONAL AREA: Customer Service

SCOPE:

Provide linguistic and administrative support to North American Service, particularly AMS and U.S. Service. Interpret meetings and conversations, translate documents, and support the Service Administrator with other administrative tasks.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must speak and write fluent English and Japanese.
  • Two to five years’ experience translating and/or interpreting in a professional context. Ability to consecutively interpret one-on-one conversations required.
  • Ability to simultaneously interpret is a plus but not required.
  • One to five years of experience in an office environment, preferably in a growing or large volume business.
  • Experience with translation software is a plus. Prior experience in manufacturing and/or field service industry is a plus but not required.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide interpreting and translation for AMS which includes, but is not limited to, e-mails, meetings, telephone calls, and limited interpreting at customer sites. Estimated 60% document translation to 40% internal meeting and conversation interpretation.
  • Assist all operations of the AMS team in order to facilitate smooth communication between local and Japanese members. Ensure timely and accurate update of information in Oracle (inquiry and project log), including adding new customer inquiries. Strive to avoid problems related to miscommunication or misunderstanding.
  • Provide general administrative support to the AMS group, including monthly metrics reporting, order management, etc.
  • Support the Service Administrator as needed to process time sheets, work orders, purchase requisitions, and install base updates in SAP. Support triage of incoming customer calls as a backup to the Service Administrator, as needed.
  • As needed, assist Japanese staff and their families with language needs that are non-work related, including, but not limited to: doctor/dentist visits, school visits, bank visits, BMV, etc.

Qualifications

  • Notify supervisor of poor intra-departmental quality issues (materials, information, or processes),
  • Work constructively to satisfy downstream customers and upstream suppliers to solve problems.
  • Understand and work to support achievement of corporate and departmental objectives.
  • Work with supervisor to establish and meet individual training and development goals.
  • Know and abide by all company policies.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner.

Education Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree required, with Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in English, Japanese, Business, or related field preferred.
